Part 3
Take the two strips B2 and one strip A2.Sew them together along the long edges, following the diagram, with the A2 strip in the middle and so that the medium and dark squares are at opposite ends. You should now have a 5" square. Make 32 of these blocks (label A3).
Take one strip C2, one strip D2 and one rectangle G.
Sew the strips together along the long edge, following the diagram, with the rectangle G in the middle. You should now have a 5" square. Make 4 of these blocks (label B3).
Take squares E2 and squares K. Following the diagram, make 4 of these blocks (label C3).
Take the triangles L, M and N.
Take 1 light triangle (N) and 1 dark triangle (L). Sew them together along one short edge as in the drawing.
Take 1 medium triangle (M) and 1 dark triangle (L). Sew them together along one short edge as in the drawing. Note that these are mirror images. Press both seams to the dark fabric.
Take 1 light/dark triangle and 1 medium/dark triangle and sew them together along the long edge, locking the seams to match points. You should now have a 9½" quarter-triangle square, with the two dark triangles opposite. Make 3 more of these (label D3).
Take squares H2 and squares S.
Sew a square H2 to each side of a square S, along the medium edges of H2. Press seams towards the H2 squares. Sew a square S to each dark side of a square H2, make two. Press the seams towards the H2 square. Sew the strips together following the diagram, locking the seams, to make a star block with the medium triangles facing inwards (label E3).
