Ariella Green "The Journey to the Image" - 18 April 2016

Ariella Green was the speaker at the April meeting and gave an insightful and personal account of the inspiration and processes behind her work. Life on a kibbutz, migration and the dialogue between power and vulnerability feature in her textiles, paintings and ceramics.
The processes used by Ariella include photographs, collage, painting and the surprise element in discharging cloth. She draws directly onto fabrics and paints in acrylic, often incorporating her own poems and stories in the work. Some of her works were described as ‘monsters’ – she will make these fantasy creatures, also known as demons, which help her out of a creative rut.
